NTA Ilorin Fire: CP Egbetokun of Kwara Command, others in solidarity visit.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara Command, Kayode Egbetokun paid a solidarity visit to the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Ilorin where he expressed his empathy with the management and staff over the Wednesday late night fire disaster that razed some offices in the station.

The Police boss who was received by the General Manager, Waheed Popoola and his management was conducted round the offices affected.

CP Egbetokun lamented the unfortunate incident but noted that there was reason to thank God for saving lives.

“We have come to express our solidarity with NTA on this unfortunate incident and to show that we share the pains of the General Manager, management and staff.”

“NTA is our partner and a critical stakeholder in peace building and crime fighting in Kwara State and beyond a role from which my command has benefited immensely over the years. Therefore, any setback suffered by NTA surely affects the command and many others”.

While he wanted to know any way the station would require the assistance of the command, Egbetokun advised the station and other government establishments to be safety conscious by acquiring smoke detectors and training staff in fire prevention.

Also at the station to express their sympathy and support were the National Forum of Heads of Federal Establishments in Nigeria, Kwara State Branch, representatives of the Emir of Ilorin led by Magaji Nda of Ilorin, GM NTA Osogbo, Waheed Adio; a representative of the GM NTA Ado Ekiti and members of Muslim Media Watch Group.

They all commended the timely response of both the federal and state fire services in putting out the fire while calling on both federal, state governments and philanthropists to support NTA Ilorin to get back big and stronger.
